With a playoff game on the line, Chartiers Valley rose to the challenge  on Monday. They walked away with  a   6-1  victory over the Cathedral Prep Ramblers. Six seems to be a good number for Chartiers Valley as the  squad scooped up a  win with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
  Taylor Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one  run (which was  unearned)  on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than six  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Kali Franklin, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Marta Gualazzi, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 On Cathedral Prep's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Madison Simmerman gave up four earned  (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
 On the hitting side, Cathedral Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Emalie Thomas, who  went 1-for-2 with  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Cathedral Prep  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with nine  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chartiers Valley only tossed five.
 Chartiers Valley is  on a roll lately: they've  won nine of their last ten contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record  this season. As for Cathedral Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
