It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Palmer Trinity Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Ransom Everglades by a score of 67-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Palmer Trinity to victory were Harrison Miles and Graham Yanowitch. Miles scored ten points along with seven assists and four steals, while Yanowitch scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Miles also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Emil Infante, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Ransom Everglades saw an underclassman step up: Zeke Battier dropped a double-double on 39 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 65% of Ransom Everglades' points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Nabaka, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Ransom Everglades smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer Trinity only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Palmer Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Ransom Everglades, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer Trinity won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mater Brickell Academy at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Mater Brickell Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Ransom Everglades, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Somerset Academy South Homestead at 7:30 p.m. Somerset Academy South Homestead will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
