2A District 3 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Carson Mcmanus of Many ran for the longest rushing play in 2A District 3 this season against Episcopal last week. Mcmanus ran for 67 yards on the play and finished with 95 on the day as his team defeated the Knights.
Xavier Dias and Chris Hopkins provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Episcopal. The connection was good for 64 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Many's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dias threw for 153 and one touchdown and Hopkins had 126 yards receiving. On the ground Cortez Sweet chipped in 117 yards. Chris Drew helped Many's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.
Many's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dias has thrown for 612 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Hopkins has eight catches for 281 yards. Sweet leads the league in rushing with 652 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 3 this week will be when Holy Savior Menard takes on Jess Curtis's team. The Eagles are in second place, while the Tigers are in third place.
Winnfield suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 21-16 loss to North DeSoto. The Tigers had been ranked 20th, but fell to 42 following the defeat.
