The Saucon Valley Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lehighton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Saucon Valley and four for Lehighton.
Last Friday, Saucon Valley was the victim of a tough 40-14 loss at the hands of Blue Mountain. While losing is never fun, Saucon Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Blue Mountain is ranked 116th).
Despite the defeat, Saucon Valley got a solid performance out of Constantine Donahue, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Lehighton was beaten by Southern Lehigh 54-12 on Friday.
Saucon Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Blue Mountain, Northwestern Lehigh, and Bangor. Lehighton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Saucon Valley lost to Lehighton at home by a decisive 24-7 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Saucon Valley have more luck at home instead of on the road?
