Basketball Game Preview: Lakeside Knights vs. Rock Hills Grizzlies

Lakeside is 8-2 against Rock Hills since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lakeside Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Rock Hills Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lakeside is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Stockton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lakeside blew Stockton out of the water with a 53-23 final score. The Knights pushed the score to 42-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Lakeside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Reece Remus, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, and Jace Cunningham, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Remus is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden McCoy, who posted four points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Rock Hills was able to grind out a solid win over Thunder Ridge on Tuesday, taking the game 50-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Lakeside better keep an eye on Cooper McDill. He was instrumental in Rock Hills' win, going 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Whelchel, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points.

Lakeside's record now sits at 2-0. As for Rock Hills, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.

Lakeside couldn't quite finish off Rock Hills in their previous meeting back in February and fell 46-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McDill, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Now that Lakeside knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
