River Valley is a perfect 3-0 against Highland Prep since April of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Dust Devils will welcome the Honey Badgers at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (River Valley has four straight wins, Highland Prep has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
River Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Tonopah Valley a 20-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Sophia Reyes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Mikkelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Odry Ayon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Layelle Simms also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
