Harnett Central is 0-10 against Overhills since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Harnett Central Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Overhills Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Harnett Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Harnett Central was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Pine Forest. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harnett Central in their matchups with Pine Forest: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Harnett Central had strong showings from Rylan Beasley, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four blocks, and Quan Dixon, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Beasley also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Kaleb McKinnis, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Overhills strolled past Triton with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-44.
Overhills can attribute much of their success to Jordan Bryant, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Lalin, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Harnett Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Overhills, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Harnett Central lost to Overhills on the road by a decisive 44-25 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Harnett Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
