Windsor extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 16-6 to the Enfield Eagles. On the bright side, the six- run performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring match to date.
Ashley G made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hannah O, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
As for Enfield, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.
On Enfield's side, Payten Stebbins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Stebbins has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Enfield let Emily Lyver and Paige Valintakonis run wild. Lyver went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Valintakonis went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that Lyver has brought in this season. Claire Bouffard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Windsor will take on Berlin at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Enfield, they will face off against Southington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.8, the Blue Knights 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
