On the hitting side, Kaden Turk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brody Duran was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Common only posted a batting average of .174.
University's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fort Morgan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
