The Milton Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Pace 48-32. Given Milton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Pace is ranked 584th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Milton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mateo Robinson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Christopher Jaylen mckinley, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Pace's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joeseph Skipworth, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals, and Hayden Bowman who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Bowman posted two or more blocks.
Milton pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Pace, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Crestview at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Crestview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Pace, they will head out on the road to square off against Navarre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Navarre has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 581 points over their last eight contests.
