The Washington-Wilkes Tigers were the 49-40 winner over the Lincoln County Red Devils when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Washington-Wilkes took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Friday.
Lincoln County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janiah Norman led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Norman has scored at least a third of Lincoln County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Elam, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Washington-Wilkes has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Lincoln County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington-Wilkes won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Screaming Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Warren County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Lincoln County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m.
