Basketball Recap: Harvard Comes Up Short

Harvard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Silver Lake Mustangs and fell 55-13. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Mustangs are ranked 91st).

Harvard's loss came despite strong showings from Tabi Forney and Allee Jarzynka. Forney posted ten points along with three steals and three blocks, while Jarzynka had no points. Forney is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Leading Silver Lake to victory were Makenna Karr and Sophie Schmidt. Karr went 6-for-7 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Schmidt almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Schmidt a new career-high. McKenna Pankoke was another key player, putting up five points and seven boards.

Harvard's defeat dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Silver Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Harvard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Silver Lake, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-27 win against Lawrence-Nelson on the 20th.
