The Dixie Flyers will venture away from home to square off against the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixie's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Snow Canyon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Dixie didn't have quite enough to beat Cedar and fell 5-4.
Drake Kesterson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Carson Hunt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Max Larkin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Cael Esplin tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Logan Ross and Bridger Larsen did most of the damage at the plate: Ross got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases, while Larsen got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Ross a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Vaughn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Snow Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane only posted an OBP of .355.
Snow Canyon's record is now 12-2. As for Dixie, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Dixie hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
