Basketball Recap: Kendyl Bottomley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Muncie Central

Connersville won the last time they faced Muncie Central and things went their way on Saturday too. The Connersville Spartans strolled past the Muncie Central Bearcats with points to spare, taking the game 41-25. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Bearcats are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Connersville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendyl Bottomley, who posted eight points and nine boards. Bottomley has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Serenity Pennington, who earned eight points and four steals.

Connersville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Muncie Central, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-11.

When Connersville and Muncie Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Connersville will try to stop Pendleton Heights' seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Connersville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Muncie Central will face off against Greenfield-Central and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
