Softball Recap: Chapel Hill Comes Up Short

Chapel Hill lost against Bremen back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers lost 19-11 to the Blue Devils. Even though they lost, the Panthers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jayda Young made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Nyla Henson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Chapel Hill and nudges their season record down to 1-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Bremen, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapel Hill will host Temple at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bremen, they will be playing at home against Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
