The Lake Catholic Cougars's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Walsh Jesuit and snuck past 46-44. For Lake Catholic, this counts as revenge for the 58-45 defeat Walsh Jesuit walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Leading Lake Catholic to victory were Cross Nimmo and Ace Peterlin. Nimmo scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, while Peterlin scored 18 points.
Lake Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Walsh Jesuit, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Averaging 68.8 so far this season, Villa Angela-St. Joseph's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Lake Catholic better be ready for a challenge. As for Walsh Jesuit, they will head out on the road to square off against Euclid at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Euclid is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
