Massabesic hasn't had much luck against Thornton Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Massabesic will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Bonny Eagle, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs walked away with a 6-1 win over the Scots on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Mustangs' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

05/09/24 @ Westbrook | 2 |
05/04/24 @ South Portland | 2 |

05/03/25 vs Scarborough | 1 |
The team relied heavily on Noah Bryan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Cassius Hogan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thornton Academy). Everything went their way against Deering on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Jacob Fish made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fish was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Blake Bolduc looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Thornton Academy let Brennan Tabor and Brayden Duane run wild. Tabor got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, while Duane went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Noah Fullerton was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Thornton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deering only posted an OBP of .286.
Thornton Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Massabesic, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5-1 record.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Massabesic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thornton Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Massabesic might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Thornton Academy in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
