The El Dorado Golden Hawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canyon. El Dorado has not had much luck with Canyon recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
El Dorado's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Hendrix, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Nathan Natividad was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Jaden Goodall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Canyon, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Goodall's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Staf Yilmazturk, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
El Dorado's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Canyon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Villa Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Villa Park is ranked 239th, while El Dorado is ranked 263rd). As for Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Brea Olinda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brea Olinda is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
