Baseball Recap: West Branch Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but West Branch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Williamsburg Biue Pirates, sneaking past 9-8. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on four straight.

Dylan Mcgonigal and Caleb Hudson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Mcgonigal tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Hudson struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because West Branch is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. At bat, Mcgonigal went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Hudson went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

In other batting news, West Branch let Coby Kephart and Frank Leskovansky run wild. Kephart got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Leskovansky got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Kephart has become a key player for West Branch: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Parks, who went 2-for-6 with two doubles and one RBI.

West Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

West Branch's record now sits at 8-6. As for Williamsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
