Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Louisiana Bulldogs proved on Monday. Everything went their way against Mark Twain as Louisiana made off with a 65-43 win. With Louisiana ahead 35-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Wyatt Martin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Louisiana's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Lumley, who scored 19 points.
Despite the loss, Mark Twain still got an impressive performance from Sam Northcutt, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was Northcutt's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quin Eckler, who scored 8 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals.
The victory got Louisiana back to even at 2-2. As for Mark Twain, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Louisiana will square off against Palmyra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Louisiana likes a good challenge. Mark Twain's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marion County at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Marion County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mark Twain in Missouri (Marion County is ranked 111th, while Mark Twain is ranked 353rd).
