The St. Frederick Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Ouachita Parish Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Frederick will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, St. Frederick got the win against Oak Grove by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Abigail Creighton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addie Clampit, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Domonkos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ouachita Parish faced off against Oak Grove on Saturday. The Lions came up short against the Tigers, falling 7-1. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Ouachita Parish saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Madison, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
St. Frederick pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ouachita Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15.
St. Frederick's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Ouachita Parish, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Frederick continue to outrun the ball?
St. Frederick took their win against Ouachita Parish when the teams last played back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
