The Spring Grove Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the William Penn Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Spring Grove comes in on three and William Penn on five.
Even though Spring Grove has not done well against Red Lion recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Spring Grove enjoyed a cozy 63-49 victory over Red Lion. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Spring Grove can attribute much of their success to Nizeah Mummert, who rushed for 277 yards while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and Cowan Ruhland, who threw for 277 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes. Kayleb Allen also helped out as he racked up 145 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, William Penn beat Dallastown 22-15 on Friday.
Their wins bumped Spring Grove to 3-4 and William Penn to 5-1.
Spring Grove couldn't quite finish off William Penn when the teams last played back in October of 2022 and fell 40-37. Can Spring Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
