6A District 10 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Lake Gibson's Tyler Brown rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 10 this season in his game against Sebring last week. Brown scampered for 51 yards on the play and finished with 70 on the day as his team beat the Blue Streaks.
Sebring moved up to 267 from 306 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Scott LaVaar's team was able to make the jump by beating Scott LaVaar's team 41-20.
Lake Gibson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trey Congdon threw for 131 and three touchdowns and Eric Carter had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Thomas Boles chipped in 86 yards. Jordan Smith helped Lake Gibson's passing attack out by catching three balls for 51 yards.
Lake Gibson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Congdon has thrown for 621 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Carter has 20 catches for 345 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 429 yards.
Winter Haven extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 10 this week by beating Kathleen, 27-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Blue Devils.
