Softball Recap: Deer Park Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Deer Park got themselves on the board against West Valley on Tuesday, but West Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Stags have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Thompson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kaylee Reiter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Meyers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Deer Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Deer Park's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for West Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Deer Park has already played their next match, an 18-2 win against Pullman on the 2nd. As for West Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-0 victory against North Central on the 3rd.
