The John Adams Academy Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Westlake Charter by a score of 83-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Isaiah McKee continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luciano Allen, who scored 13 points along with six assists and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Westlake Charter had strong showings from Quinones Fleeton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Matthew Quilatan, who scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Jarriel Taylor, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Westlake Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Adams Academy only pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
The win got John Adams Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Westlake Charter, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
John Adams Academy will take on Fortune Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fortune Early College knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully John Adams Academy likes a good challenge. As for Westlake Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Leroy Greene Academy at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Leroy Greene Academy is ranked 1018th, while Westlake Charter is ranked 1022nd).
