Maranatha Christian and Army-Navy are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Maranatha Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Army-Navy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Maranatha Christian fell victim to Tri-City Christian's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-0. Maranatha Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Army-Navy put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Escondido Charter 21-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Army-Navy just coasted through the last quarter.
Tonton Drobny and Nehemiah L brunson jr were among the main playmakers for Army-Navy as the former rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only five carries and the latter rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Escondido Charter to a paltry 216 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Army-Navy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 4.5 times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ratumana Bulabalavu and his 2.5 sacks.
Tri-City Christian's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Maranatha Christian's loss dropped theirs to 3-6.
Maranatha Christian was taken down by Army-Navy 45-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Maranatha Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
