The Douglas County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Alexander by a score of 52-50. Douglas County found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Douglas County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Freeman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyla Neal, who scored 12 points.
Alexander found their leader in underclassman Nimah Ibidunni, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Isabella Italiano was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists.
Douglas County has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Alexander, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Douglas County will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Langston Hughes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Alexander, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Paulding is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
