Vermilion Valley Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Evan Parish and Co. Win Seventh in a Row
Evan Parish's big game helped extend Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's winning streak to seven on Friday. Momence had no answer to Parish as he made 11 total tackles. Parish is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played.
Unfortunately for Momence, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Parish. Parish made 11 total tackles (5.0 for loss) the last time he and the Momence Athletics duked it out back in October of 2023.

Castillo Posts Huge Game in 42-14 Defeat
Erick Castillo posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 259 yards and a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made two total tackles.
Momence's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. Castillo will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Watseka on Friday.

Oakwood Gets a Boost from Harrison in 44-6 Win
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Chase Harrison stepped things up a notch to give Oakwood the 'W'. Harrison was dynamite, picking up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Oakwood's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Unfortunately for Iroquois West, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Harrison. Harrison picked up 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns the last time he and the Raiders duked it out back in October of 2023.

Kyler Johnson Makes It Two for Oakwood
Keeping Harrison company is Kyler Johnson, a fellow Oakwood player. He rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
On the year, Johnson has run in 13 touchdowns while averaging 87 rushing yards per game.

Brogan Halpin Crosses Big Stat Threshold
The second Momence player making an appearance here is Brogan Halpin, and for good reason. He picked up 145 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average receiving yardage north of 100 yards per game (101.9). The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 75 yards.
On the year, Halpin has caught 9 touchdowns while averaging 101.9 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 25.14 receiving yards per game.
