The Northern Cambria Colts had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They strolled past Cambria Heights with points to spare, taking the game 28-11. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Northern Cambria also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Ty Dumm had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Dumm really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Caleb Dolney also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Cambria Heights lost, one person who can't be blamed is Stephen Nelen. Despite the final result, he gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.
Northern Cambria's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.1 points per game. As for Cambria Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Cambria will take on Marion Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cambria Heights, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against West Branch at 7:00 p.m. West Branch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Cambria Heights likes a good challenge.
