The Poway Titans will face off against the Cajon Cowboys at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Poway made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bonita Vista, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Titans fell just short of the Barons by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Titans have suffered since June 5, 2025.
Addie Queen was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.
Meanwhile, Cajon got the win against Sultana on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won three matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Madison Gallardo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Maggie Rodriguez looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaelyn Hear, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Joelize Holley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Cajon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sultana only posted an OBP of .304.
The win made it two in a row for Cajon and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Poway, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poway hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Cajon struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Poway got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Cajon by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
