The Wickenburg Wranglers will head out on the road to square off against the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wickenburg is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Wickenburg suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a rough 61-40 defeat at the hands of Northwest Christian. While losing is never fun, Wickenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Northwest Christian is ranked 86th).
Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic was the victim of a tough 60-39 defeat at the hands of Fountain Hills on Saturday.
The losing side was boosted by Juliet Botiller, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 64.1% of Bourgade Catholic's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nizhoni Rainbolt was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Wickenburg has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Bourgade Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Wickenburg came up short against Bourgade Catholic in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 49-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Botiller, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds.
