Football Recap: Bloomington South Starts off Right with Win over Columbus East

Bloomington South gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Columbus East Olympians for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Olympians: they've now won four in a row.

Braylen Townsend had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 202 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 107 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Duncan Combs, who threw for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Bloomington South proved: they limited Columbus East to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. While one picked up at least seven total tackles, Ross Ogden stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles. Bloomington South didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.7.

Bloomington South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-27 victory against Martinsville on the 29th. As for Columbus East, they have also already played their next match, a 52-7 loss against Columbus North on the 29th.
