The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears lost to the Edinburg North Cougars back in January of 2023, but the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears didn't allow the Edinburg North Cougars the same satisfaction on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo snuck past Edinburg North with a 39-34 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pharr-San Juan-Alamo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rebeca Tinoco, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackie Molina, who scored 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Edinburg North lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josselyn Quintanilla. Despite the final result, she scored three points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Quintanilla hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Etsel Ramirez, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's victory bumped their record up to 9-18. As for Edinburg North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-15.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Edinburg the next time they take the court. Edinburg North will head out to face Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
