Ithaca and St. Louis are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Sharks at 3:00 p.m. Ithaca is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Ithaca needed a bit of extra time to put away Garber. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Dukes.

Ivy Davenport spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kennedi Ryan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeli Akin, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Louis suffered their closest loss since May 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Carson City-Crystal by a score of 9-7.
Paige Luneack put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Luneack was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Halle Hoyt was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Ithaca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Louis, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ithaca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like St. Louis struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ithaca couldn't quite get it done against St. Louis in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
