Tolland hasn't had much luck against Coventry recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tolland took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Manchester a 9-0 shutout.

Evan Clark was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Ethan Schwarz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tolland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Coventry made easy work of East Granby on Thursday and carried off a 13-0 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Dominic Deangelis was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Coventry is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Deangelis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Jackson Senna was a standout: he got on base in two of his three plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kyle Hecht, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Tolland pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Coventry, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tolland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Coventry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tolland suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Coventry in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
