The Simon Gratz Bulldogs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Science Leadership Academy at Beeber 74-59 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Simon Gratz was led to victory by Sihaaj Johnson and Jibrille Dennison. Johnson scored 20 points, while Dennison scored 29 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashaan Murphy, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Science Leadership Academy at Beeber's loss came despite strong showings from Sa'd Jamdaddin and Jahad Marable. Jamdaddin scored 21 points, while Marable scored 14 points. The contest was Jamdaddin's third in a row with at least ten points. Drew Holland was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Simon Gratz's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Simon Gratz will be playing at home against McKean at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, they will head out on the road to face off against Penn Wood at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
