The East Central Trojans will take on the Richmond Red Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. East Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, East Central made easy work of South Dearborn and carried off an 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Ethan Wynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chase Marsh was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Noah Long, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Richmond's offense. They lost 8-0 to Winchester Community on Thursday. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Richmond saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Syn'Cere Russell, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
East Central's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. East Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Central beat Richmond 10-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
