Dunkirk hasn't had much luck against Olean recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Marauders will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Dunkirk has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fredonia hit Dunkirk with a seven-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marauders came up short against the Hillbillies, falling 13-3.
Gracie Grann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Olean, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Salamanca a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Tiana Maine made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Maine was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Finch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ally Anastasia, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Dunkirk's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Olean, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Dunkirk suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Olean when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
