Baseball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Albuquerque Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Valley Vikings by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Matthew Delaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other pitching news, Brian Valdez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Albuquerque Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise.

Delaney wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was AJ Lenhart, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Jace Gabladon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Albuquerque Academy now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Valley, their record is now 8-10.

Coincidentally, Albuquerque Academy and Valley will both be playing Hope Christian the next time they take the field. The Chargers will head out to face the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Vikings will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
