The Bourne Canalmen put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Seekonk at home to the tune of 76-40. Bourne has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.
Seekonk's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travis Pereira, who scored five points along with three steals. Johnny Payne was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Bourne's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points per game. As for Seekonk, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bourne will square off against Old Rochester Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Rochester Regional will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Bourne is ranked fifth). As for Seekonk, they will head out on the road to face off against Apponequet Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Apponequet Regional has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three matchups.
