The South Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 76-59 fall against Western Reserve. The loss was just more heartbreak for South Central, who fell 46-43 when the teams last met back in January of 2023.
South Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gunner Ray, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Weston June, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
South Central dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Western Reserve, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Margaretta at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Margaretta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Central in Ohio (Margaretta is ranked 72nd, while South Central is ranked 806th). As for Western Reserve, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
