The Wesson Cobras lost against the South Pike Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Wesson lost to South Pike on the road by a decisive 36-22 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wesson in their matchups with South Pike: they've now lost seven in a row.
South Pike found their leader in underclassman Ayniah Varnado, who scored nine points along with four blocks. Another player making a difference was Alaysha Williams, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Wesson has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for South Pike, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.
Wesson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Pike, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-41 loss vs. Port Gibson on the 9th.
