The North Harrison Shamrocks fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Worth County Tigers on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. North Harrison has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, North Harrison saw an underclassman step up: Wyatt Maize scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maize has scored all season. Keygun Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
North Harrison struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Worth County pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Tyler New, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds for Worth County. That makes it three consecutive games in which New has scored at least a third of Worth County's points. Another player making a difference was Caleb New, who scored 18 points.
North Harrison now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Worth County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
North Harrison will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Worth County, they will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
