The New Prairie Cougars lost against the Concord Minutemen back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. New Prairie ended up on the wrong side of a tough 53-32 walloping at the hands of Concord. While losing is never fun, New Prairie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Concord is ranked 86th).
Despite the loss, New Prairie still got an impressive performance from Reece Lapczynski, who scored 17 points. Lapczynski continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Wiginton, who scored six points.
New Prairie's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Concord, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will take on South Bend Riley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Concord and Plymouth will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
