Bertie was led to victory by Jah'Kelvin Rascoe and Zymiere Dempsey. Rascoe scored 14 points along with 8 steals and 6 assists, while Dempsey scored 24 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dempsey has scored at least 25% of Bertie's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvien Ward, who scored 5 points.
Bertie's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Wayne Country Day, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Bertie will head out on the road to face off against J.H. Rose at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne Country Day, they will be playing at home against Trinity Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Wayne Country Day likes a good challenge.
