Burrillville and Narragansett are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Broncos will head out on the road to challenge the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Burrillville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Burrillville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Central, who was ranked 12th at the time (Burrillville was ranked 18th). The Broncos put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 18-8 victory on Friday. The Broncos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

AJ Escalera and Jack Dichiaro did most of the damage at the plate: Escalera got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI, while Dichiaro got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Dichiaro a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Furtado, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Burrillville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Narragansett fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Chariho on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 4-3. The Mariners' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Jackson Hohl made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Drez Owens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Burrillville pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Narragansett, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
Both Burrillville and Narragansett just can't seem to miss. The Broncos have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Narragansett struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burrillville might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Narragansett in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
