The Adams City Eagles on the road again on Friday and play against the DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Adams City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three matchups.
Adams City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thornton 97-53 on the road. The win was just what Adams City needed coming off of a 79-56 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jalen Mckinnies, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Mckinnies pulled down eight or more rebounds. Xavier Copher was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, DSST: Green Valley Ranch pushed their score all the way to 69 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Kent Denver by a score of 72-69. That's two games in a row now that DSST: Green Valley Ranch has lost by exactly three points.
Jovonnie Babineaux put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tong Bot, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Adams City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for DSST: Green Valley Ranch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Adams City have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DSST: Green Valley Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Adams City took a serious blow against DSST: Green Valley Ranch when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 66-34. Can Adams City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
