The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun in their matchups with Roane County: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Calhoun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Taylor. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Buckius, who scored two points along with six steals.
Leading Roane County to victory were Will Odle and Shaun Caldwell. Odle scored 14 points, while Caldwell scored 13 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Odle has scored at least 25% of Roane County's points. Another player making a difference was Cam Cumpston, who scored nine points.
Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Roane County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-3.
Calhoun will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Wirt County at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Wirt County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game. Roane County will finish 2023 at home by hosting Doddridge County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
