Baseball Game Preview: Farragut Admirals vs. Westinghouse Warriors

For the second straight game, Farragut will face off against Westinghouse. The Admirals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Farragut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Farragut made easy work of Westinghouse and carried off a 25-3 win. The Admirals have beaten the Warriors the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Alex Barrera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Gio Bahena-Perez was a standout: he fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Robert DeMateo, who went 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Farragut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .618. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Farragut's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Westinghouse, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Westinghouse's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Farragut hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379.
