Metro Christian scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Berryhill, 29-21. At the time, the Chiefs were ranked 22nd in the state, while the Patriots were 38th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Metro Christian, who took down 22nd ranked Berryhill, 29-21.
Sperry's dynamic duo of Casey Holcomb and Blake Teel proved tough for Verdigris to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Holcomb threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Teel had 161 yards receiving. Taylor Garner helped Sperry's passing attack out by catching five balls for 44 yards.
Tanner Smith was the most productive running back in 3A District 5 this week. In 37 carries, he ran for 289 yards as the Cardinals lost to the Cardinals. Teammate J.d. Hanslovan added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.
Pat Harper's team's Zach Jackson and JUSTIN JACKSON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jackson has thrown for 1402 yards this season, while JACKSON has 52 catches for 642 yards. Verdigris' Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 2033.
Dan Nickles' team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sperry, 36-20. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Cardinals.
